Sun Fresh If people can use sun to make fresh water...?
Then why don't countries or governments in general make a major project to create fresh water from sea water? Specially if the area got a lot of sunlight, sure drink it or not, but a empty land space, why not make potential from it, you don't have to drink, you can grow trees and plants, why not?
Economics.
The only places where it is economical to run desalination plants already do so, and these are places where the sun produces enough solar power to produce the electricity on site.
Until the technology for converting solar power to electricity gets efficient enough for the cost to drop they just can't afford to do it.
Will it hurt my sun conure to drink coffee and soda in moderation?
When I'm drinking either coffee or soda she comes up and is nudging me to get to the drink.. She always has fresh water so I just wanted to know if this will hurt her.
Thank you for your comments.
I'm so sorry, a Sun Conure is a Parrot.
HI M...
Here is a question for you. Will it hurt you to eat live grub worms and insects and dirt in moderation... as that is what some birds eat? Not conures but other types of birds.
You should not be thinking about giving your pet food or drink that is unnatural to her digestive system. I cannot imagine it would be healthful and it could damage her urinary tract and digestive system over time. We already know that soda is not good for us so why would it be good for a bird?
I am not a vet... but I don't think you have to be one to use common sense about the environment and taking care of animal life. As owners and caretakers of animals we choose as pets, we need to be responsible and you cannot know if offering these out of the ordinary diet things to her is actually causing her physical pain.
If you want a professional answer, you really should direct it to a vet who specializes in birds in your city.

When spring comes it is time for a liver cleanse. This is a good time to rejuvenate the liver for the coming year of work. One good way to cleanse the liver is to use herbal teas. They are easy to use and they provide a powerful punch to reawaken the liver.
Here is a herbal formulation for the liver provided by Brigitte Mars (herbalist in Colorado) called "Puri-Tea" which consist of:
Here's another herbal combination that is good for detoxifying and cleansing the liver:
· Yellow Dock root, Dandelion root, Licorice root · Red sage, Sarsaparilla, Hyssop · Pau de Arco, Milk Thistle Seed, Parsley leaf.
Here's something else you can do for you liver. Buy an extract of Milk Thistle Seed. Then when you make the liver tea's list here, add 2-3 full droppers of the Milk Thistle Seed extract to the tea. Here are the effects of some of the herbs listed above.
· fennel seed - white cell formation, acid/alkaline balancing · peppermint - body cleanser and toner · red clover - blood purifier · licorice - adrenal stimulation · cleavers - anti-infection · dandelion - cleansing and strengthening · oregon grape root - cleansing, building · burdock root - purifying · nettles - rich in minerals · chickweed - · fenugreek - helps to eliminate toxins and mucus · yellow dock root - cleansing, white cell formation · pau de arco - cleansing, white cell formation · milk thistle seed - cleansing, building
You can make these teas yourself or look for a ready made one at a health food store. What I do is buy a 1/2 or 1 oz of each herb. Then I mix one full tablespoon of each herb into a mason jar. Shake it up and its ready to go. Preparing the tea
Boil 1 1/4 cup of distilled water in a glass container. Add 1 heaping tablespoon of herbal mixture. Let tea sit for 10-15 minutes. Strain and drink when it cools down a little. Drink one cup of tea before breakfast and one before dinner for about 1-2 months.

Areas of Interest: Northern Frontier District, Samburu Game Reserve(Gerenuk and Grevys Zebra), Marsabit National Park, Kalacha, Chalbi Desert, Loiyangalani, Lake Turkana, Turkana Villages, Maralal, Nyahururu, Thomson Falls. Activity: Culture, Ethnic, Samburu village visit (optional extra cost), Boat Ride, Wildlife, Camping, Traditional Turkana Bandas, El molo village visit, Bird Watching, Scenery, Photography, Swimming Facilities (optional at extra cost), Use of Oasis Lodge Facilities (optional at extra cost). Country: Kenya Northern Kenya is lightly populated, untamed and often barren. Setting foot in these parts is like leaving the 21st century; it is an explorer's heaven, and the variety of tribes that live here are some of the most captivating people in the world. They include the Samburu, Turkana, Rendille, Boran, Gabbra and El – Molo. This rugged 1,800-km expedition is run in land cruiser or expedition trucks. You will traverse along some of Africa's worst roads; see beautiful mountain forest surrounded on all sides by hot dusty deserts, eventually arriving at our camp on the shores of the Jade Sea (Lake Turkana). Gametrackers has been offering this as our best selling safari for over 21 years especially for those true explorers and travellers who want to get off the tourist beaten track and for it, we are highly recommended. Ours is the only camp situated right on the beach of the lake with spectacular views of the South Island. The camp comprises 12 double traditional Turkana palm leaf huts, a dinning/lounge, kitchen, showers and toilets that are all available for use, if not, we pitch tents nearby. You will see a great variety of tribes during the tour and cross the Chalbi Desert if dry. During the rains it becomes an enormous shallow lake. Philip Briggs, travel writer and tour consultant best describes our safari by saying "While it is the lake that provides the nominal incentives for doing this trip, it is the people of northern Kenya that make the most lasting impression, nomadic pastoralists such as the Gabbra, Turkana and Samburu whose adherence to a strictly traditional lifestyle and dress is practically unique in modern East Africa. In small villages such as North Horr or Kalacha, even in the city of Loiyangalani, you could be forgiven for thinking that the whole human spectacle is being put on for tourists – except that practically no tourists pass this way aside from the fortnightly Gametrackers truck. As we returned to Nairobi from Turkana, we felt as if we had travelled not only through space but also through time, to be granted a vision of Africa as it might have been a hundred years ago. That this ancient human landscape still exists in a country as relatively developed as Kenya simply defies belief!" Briggs, P. (2nd Ed.) East and Southern Africa: The Backpacker's Manual, Bradt 2001. Day 1 – Samburu Depart Nairobi in the morning heading north via the shoulder of Africa's second largest mountain, Mt Kenya to the Samburu Game Reserve. Accommodation in our semi-permanent campsite is beautifully set under a canopy of trees or we may pitch tents on the edge of Uaso Nyiro (meaning Brown in Samburu) River. Cold showers are available which are amazingly refreshing in the hot, dusty climates. Day 2 – Samburu The day is spent game viewing in the park. Samburu is part of a lava plain that includes a diverse landscape of thorn scrub, red dirt, dried river beds, broken volcanic rock, steep hills, and rocky outcroppings, some large enough to be called mesas. This reserve is becoming one of Kenya's most admired stops after the Mara. The region is home to the uncommon Grevy's zebra with huge fury ears, gerenuk antelope standing on hind legs to feed, Somali ostriches with distinct blue legs and the shy Oryx. Elephant and crocodile are guaranteed sightings, excellent bird watching with numerous varieties of weaverbirds and the martial eagle. Leopard sighting is also a special feature here. Day 3 – Marsabit We head north again along the Trans-African highway to Marsabit (meaning place of cold), an astonishingly cool, green and hilly oasis rising high above the dry heat of the surrounding desert lands. The local Rendille and Samburu people in their bright red outfits, beads and earrings make it a vibrant place. After setting up camp, we visit the lodge inside the National park and as long as the roads are dry we drive to Lake Paradise and Little Lake. Here, an indigenous forest and a desert come together to create the most compelling landscape on earth. Elephants and greater kudu abound. The dense forest in the park is also home to a variety of birds. Day 4 – Kalacha We depart after an early breakfast through the scenic landscape of the arid north with views of picturesque hills. We arrive and camp at Kalacha, a small Gabbra settlement on the edge of the Chalbi Desert. The Gabbra are an Eastern Cushite people related to the Somali-Rendille in their historical origins in the southern Ethiopian highlands about AD 1000. The men wear traditional shorts and a blanket-cloak and the women wear a wrap-around and head cloth. They are pastoralists, particularly attached to their camels. Day 5 - Lake Turkana We depart early crossing the Chalbi Desert to Lake Turkana which is the largest desert lake in the world and extends for 288 kilometres up to the Ethiopian / Kenyan border. It is surrounded by volcanic rock and desert. We arrive at our semi - permanent beach village where we have our traditional Turkana Huts; making it a perfect place to relax, protected from the scorching sun and heat characteristic of the climate of this remote area. Day 6 - Lake Turkana The day is spent relaxing and you may visit the local lodge to swim or hire a boat to visit the surrounding area (at an extra cost). In addition, we may visit Loiyangalani and the community settled there while in the evening visiting one of the Turkana Manyattas [optional] for traditional dances at an extra cost if clients wish. An unforgettable experience under a star studded sky so close you can almost touch it. Turkana, formerly L. Rudolf is now named after one of the tribes who live on its shores and it is in this area that Richard Leakey uncovered the three million year old fossils of ‘Homo Erectus.' This pre historic site is now known as the "Cradle of Mankind". The Lake is also known as the "Jade Sea" because of its remarkable blue – green colour. This is a result of algae particles, which shift with changes of the wind and light, so that the water surface shifts from blue to grey to fabulous jade. The lake is home to the largest population of Nile crocodiles in the world. If the weather permits we take a short sunset boat ride to the surrounding areas. Day 7 – Maralal We journey via the Horr Valley situated between Mount Nyiro and Ol Doinye Mara viewing the breath taking scenery as we continue to climb on torturous, rocky hills to Maralal. Near Maralal is one of the most breath taking scenes in all of Kenya – the Losiolo escarpment, an endless stretch as land drops down to the Suguta valley. Maralal is the unofficial capital of the Samburu people and has a distinctly frontier feel about it, like something out of a ‘wild west' movie. It boasts a colourful Samburu market and a game sanctuary that lies just outside of town. Maralal is also home of the Maralal International Camel Derby that happens once a year between July and October and attracts riders and spectators from the four corners of the world Day 8 – Nairobi Heading south again via Laikipia Plains and Nyahururu we may stop at the Thomson falls named after Joseph Thomson who walked from Mombasa to Lake Victoria in the early 1880s. Shaped by the waters of the Ewaso Narok River, the falls plunge over 72m into a rift, spraying the dark forest below. After lunch we drive back into Nairobi by mid-afternoon. info@claudioustours.com http://www.claudioustours.com

Meteor Garden is about Shan Cai, a poor girl, who attends Ying De University in Taipei, Taiwan. She is bullied by Dao Ming Sz, who is the leader of F4, also known as the "Flower Four." F4 are are sons of the richest corporate executives in Taiwan. Shan Cai is a tough girl who will not allow anyone to bully her around. In the midst of the hazing, Shan Cai starts to secretly fall in love with Lei because he is nice to her. Lei is Dao Ming Sz's best friend. However, Lei already has his heart set on Jing (his longtime childhood friend). Dao Ming Sz starts to secretly fall in love with Shan Cai after he sees how independent and tough she is to withstand him. Introduction and Overview of Zodiac!
The zodiac is recognized as the first known celestial coordinate system. Before looking at what the zodiac is, it is important first to understand what the ecliptic is. the apparent path of the sun across the heavens through the constellation that divide the ecliptic into twelve equal zones of celestial longitude If you were to imagine what you see when you look up into the sky, and if you tracked the apparent movement of the Sun through it, this is what is meant when the word ecliptic is used. Put simply it means the apparent pathway of the Sun through the sky as viewed from earth.
The zodiac is actually a group of constellations that form the backdrop to the Sun's apparent pathway through the sky that extends 9 degrees on either side of the ecliptic. The zodiac is recognized as the first known celestial coordinate system. The orbits of the planets (and our Moon) also fall within this zodiac belt. The etymology of the term zodiac is that it comes from the Latin z?diacus, from the ancient Greeks - zodiakos kyklos, "circle of animals", because most of the constellations through which the ecliptic passes represent animals (e.g., Aquarius, Virgo, Gemini and for some Libra). Although the constellations are irregular in size and shape the 12 astrological signs are generally allocated 30 degrees each.
The ecliptic was clearly identified and divided into 12 equal signs of the zodiac around 450 BC in Mesopotamia. Most reference sources indicate that the zodiac is a Babylonian invention - the oldest record of the zodiacal signs is a cuneiform horoscope from 419 BC. At the same time, Greek sources claim the discovery of the ecliptic during the second half of the 5th century BC. Like many historical developments it is quite possible that both the Greek and Babylonian cultures developed these systems at about the same time. The zodiac remains in use in modern astrology, though the issue of tropical astrology and sidereal astrology is central.
Because the Sun's pathway through the heavens is basically constant and can be found at roughly the same spot for the same date in each year, this is how we came to use Sun Signs: the position of the Sun in relation to the backdrop of the zodiac constellations. This system is convenient because the average person doesn't have to have complicated planetary positions worked out to know which constellation affects them personally, the date of birth is all that is needed in most cases.
Symbolically, each of the zodiac signs (Aries - Ram(0°); Taurus - Bull(30°); Gemini - Twins(60°); Cancer - Crab(90°); Leo - Lion(120°); Virgo - Virgin(150°); Libra - Scales(180°); Scorpio - Scorpion(210°); Sagittarius - Archer(240°); Capricorn - Goat(270°); Aquarius - Water Bearer(300°); and Pisces - Fish(330°) represent various qualities or whether the signs should be defined in terms of signs roughly aligned with the constellations of the same name.

Johnny Jump Ups Could I plant some flowers in my oriental fire bellied toad tank?
I am going to plant them from seed.
I was thinking johnny jump ups or marigolds.
I would like to know plants that do well (I'm looking for plants that are easy to grow from seed)
Any plants that I cannot use?
The only thing I can think of would be hibiscus, but it's pretty hard to keep alive in a terrarium. i would not suggest marigolds because they can be poisonous - I'm not sure about the other ones.
Some say he is the best and some say he's not, but whatever he is, Ruby Walsh is certainly one of the greatest jump jockeys of all time and is likely to be one of the greatest for a few years to come yet.
He is the son of Irish trainer and former amateur jockey, Ted Walsh, and burst on to the National Hunt scene in the UK back in 1998, when as an 18 year old he rode the winner of the Champion Bumper, Alexander Banquet, at the Cheltenham Festival. Prior to that, he had emulated his father by winning the Irish amateur jockey championship twice in succession.
Walsh did not find any further success at the Cheltenham Festival until 2002, but he made national headlines in both the UK and Ireland when he rode Papillon to victory in the 2000 Grand National, a horse trained by his father. Ruby followed that up with a victory on Commanche Court in the Irish equivalent just a few weeks later.
By now, Ruby Walsh had become a big name on the National Hunt scene on both sides of the Irish Sea and the offers of good rides and permanent stable positions were abundant and the winners just flowed in and his reputation soared.
In the 2004/5 season, Walsh rode the winners of three of the four major Grand Nationals. He rode Numbersixvalverde in the Irish, Silver Birch in the Welsh and Hedgehunter in the Aintree Grand National. In that same season he was beaten by a short head when riding Cornish Rebel in the Scottish National which deprived him of the unique statistic of having ridden all four 'National' winners in one season.
Walsh had however already won the Scottish National a couple of years earlier on Take Control and he is still the only jockey riding currently that has won all four.
This year at the Cheltenham Festival, Ruby Walsh broke the record for the number of wins achieved. He had seven winners, including the Cheltenham Gold Cup on Kauto Star, the Queen Mother Champion Chase on Master Minded and the World Hurdle on Big Bucks. He was also a close second in the Champion Hurdle on Celestial Halo. He has now ridden 24 winners at the most prestigious of all racing festivals.
It is true of course that Walsh does get the choice rides of both England's and Ireland's top stables. In the UK he rides for Champion trainer, Paul Nicholls and in Ireland he has first pick of the Irish Champion trainer, Willie Mullins horses. It is an enviable position but one that is richly deserved.
Many believe that he is still not as good as champion jockey, Tony McCoy, but others would argue different. Whether he is or not, Ruby Walsh is the King of quality and he rarely gets his rides wrong. With over 1400 winners to date and aged only 30, Ruby Walsh has a lot more to come and is most definitely the man to follow in the big races.
His next big engagement will be at the forthcoming Punchestown Festival at the end of April where once again he is favourite to finish top jockey, before riding at the Galway Festival in July.
