Gladiolus Bulbs Can I dig up my gladiolus bulb to straighten it out?
I planted gladiolus & one of them is emerging on a slant. Would it harm the plant to dig it up and straighten it?
Probably not if it has not grown too much. Try to disturb it as little as possible and press the ground around it firmly after, giving it some water. As they grow very tall, it will be of benefit in the end.

can I leave my gladioli bulbs in the ground over winter? (UK).?
There are hardy gladioli, which are not as tall or as prolific flowering as Grandiflora hybrids, and these hardy types will overwinter in British gardens however severe the weather gets. But, the Grandifloras are not frost hardy. We have had a lot of mild winters, no real frozen solid ground to speak of. That would kill off non-hardy gladioli. Snow is not a marker of freezing conditions: in fact it can be a warming blanket to the ground, if it is short-lived, and the deeper parts of the soil where the bulbs are planted are relatively warm.
It's ok to leave Grandifloras in if we have another mild winter, but it is a bit of a risk still.
Joe Pye Weed How do you grow Joe Pye Weed from seeds?
I've wasted about 400 seeds because nothing seems to happen. I've tried two different ways to germinate Joe Pye and have been unsuccessful. Is it really difficult and takes a long time or am I just impatient? Do you know where I can get Joe Pye plants for a fair price? Thanks.
I installed 3 joe pyes at one of my clients gardens.Well it wasn't long before we found out why they call it a weed!!!I love them, but when they were just past flowering,Within 3 weeks ,I was pulling out at least 150 joe pye sprouts out of the garden.Buy one plant, that's all you will need.

Gladiolus Bulbs Is it ok to plant my new bulbs now instead of what the directions say?
I have some gladiolus and hyacinth bulbs I want to plant with the rest of my bulbs but the directions tell me to wait until Jan. or Feb. I'm in Northern California where the summers are hot and winters are mild (gets to the teens, snows occasionally, rains heavy usually).
It's safe to plant the Hyacinth bulbs now as they will survive the winter here. But don't plant the Gladiolus bulbs until February or better yet April to prevent them from freezing and rotting. Gladiolus and other South African bulbs are temperature and moisture sensitive, and need to be stored in a dry protected area in the winter if possible.

How to Store Gladiolus
When to plant gladiolus - zone 5?
I have about 200 gladiolus bulbs stored in a bedroom upstairs that are beginning to sprout. I live in Indiana, zone 5, how soon can I plant them outdoors?
You can't plant them for at least until April. You need to put them in the refridgerator to temporarily stunt the growth. Your bulbs are getting confused by the warmth in the house and are sprouting way too early. If you plant them outside now, they will in all likelyhood get bit by a freeze.
Purple Coneflower Seed IF I plant Purple coneflower seed in late May is that too late?
I live in North Carolina (zone 6b)
Also, how long does it take them to grow from seed?
When should they bloom and for how long?
I started Cone flower and Shasta Daisy seeds in mid June last year, and the plants were strong enough to be planted on there own by fall.
I started mine in a planter box so that I could plant the best plants where I wanted them when they were ready for transplanting.
Bear in mind that cone flowers are perennials, so they won't bloom until the second year. They will usually bloom in June and bloom for a couple of months.

5 mile fall hike at Battelle Darby Creek Park - Columbus, Ohio
How many hours of sunlight does purple coneflower need?
and when should you plant the seeds?
our last frost date is April 15.
I JUST READ THAT THEY WILL ADAPT TO PART SHADE. ANYBODY WITH THIS EXPERIENCE?
ALSO, HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE THEM TO GROW FROM SEED TO FLOWER?
IF I PUT THEM OUT AROUND MAY 22 , WILL I HAVE ENOUGH TIME?
Echinacea purpurea needs full sun. You should start seeds indoors in a peat tray ,planting them outside around May 1 to be safe. Do know that first year perennials often do not flower. You may consider buying some at your local nursery to supplement if you want color this year. And remember to amend your soil before planting(organics are best ) as Coneflowers like a rich , well drained soil.
