From Iran can an accountant from iran work in UK based on his degree?
my fiance has got a degree in accountancy in iran. thats where he achieved his degree. i would like to know whether he can work as an accountant once he arrives in UK. would appreaciate your help.
I am from the US and have worked in CPA firms with people who had degrees from other countries. They did however obtain the CPA certification while in the US.
If the UK has some sort of professional accountancy license that would help. If that is not what he wants to do don't be surprised if they give him a test during the interview process. I have had several tests during interview process to prove I knew what I was talking about - and I received my degree here.
Good luck =)

Oriental Night Could it have been a touch of food poisoning?
I ate some Asian food last night from a take away. Shortly afterwards I did feel woozy and cramping in my stomach. This continued through the night and for most of today. Could the food be the cause or was it just a bug. I've never ever really eaten from an Oriental restaurant. I did feel fine before I ate though
Well food poisoning comes from viruses, bacteria or parasites. Most cases of food poisoning last 24-48 hours and generally have the symptoms you described, along with a few others.
But Food poisoning usually comes from under-cooked foods or servers who didn't wash their hands. So I guess you'd have to ask yourself if you think the place was unsanitary or maybe the cook or waiter didn't wash their hands.
Or it could be Monosodium Glutamate (MSG) but I don't think it would have irritated your stomach for that long.
What is the dress code for the Ford Center/Oriental Theatre in Chicago?
I will be seeing Rent there Friday night. What do people usually wear?
People aren't THAT fancy but you want to look nice. You could wear nice jeans, khakis, or black pants with a nice top. A button up, solid color, or a tasteful print would work just fine. You could also go for a skirt (not super short though) or a plain dress (plain as in not a ball gown). I would say it is business casual. Have fun! Rent is amazing live!

I heard about the Puente Hills Fault in the SCEC blog and its supposed to make a 7.3 quake in the future?
If this is true that Puente hills fault is supposed to make a 7.3 Landers Size quake from the San Gabriel Valley to Downtown LA. How come this isn't well known in the US Mainstream Media like Hayward, New Madrid, San Andreas, Denali, Alaska Subduction, Denali, and the Cascadia are. Besides that LA and the rest of CA have so many Earthquake faults to investigate with.
Because it's a thrust fault (a blind thrust fault, actually) that relies on compressional forces to function. This area of the world is a large transform boundary where the Pacific plate is grinding north relative to the North American plate. There just aren't many compressional forces to build. In this case, such a fault would have a sequence of thousands of years between rupture.
Further, no one can predict earthquake rupture of any kind. Nowhere, no kind, not a tiny bit. Not even the Southern California Earthquake Center. Or the USGS. Nobody. We have no measuring equipment to nail down anywhere that strain is being built, and further, how much the rock can handle before a rupture.
The Puente Hills Fault has only had 4 major ruptures in the last 11,000 years!!
We here in Southern California have more geologic features than we know what to do with. The 1994 Northridge quake happened on another fault that we didn't even know existed. It's easy to find the big faults, or the big subduction zones, or the huge volcanoes -- but locating hundreds of potentially dangerous faults of different kinds, nobody should bash anyone else for not having a perfect map. When I was growing up, there was a large earthquake along the Rose Canyon fault, and everyone thought it was a dead fault. We don't know enough, and this SCEC paper doesn't know *anything more.*
Beside, PHF is right under LA. What do you want people to do? Pick up and move? You can only prepare as much as you can reasonably prepare.
I've only been in one once, but it was an amazing experience, the guy doing it was a shaman on mt. Shasta, so has anyone had a "spiritual experience" i mean, i'm atheistic, but some crazy stuff was going on in there, and afterword i just felt so good... hmm...
P.S. don't give answers like this:
1. Sweat lodges are satanic devil worshipping rituals! convert! convert and save your soul!
2. he probably put pot on the rocks.
if a muslim decided to dress like a priest and charge people for a authentic mass, the catholics would be up in arms.
if a pagan tried to set up a business doing mock baptisms the entire christian world would demand a stop to it.
if a christian dressed like a rabbi and started holding bar mitsvahs for their congregation jewish people would be furious.
so why is it that the sacred ceremonies of native nations are mocked regularly by some non natives who make a hefty living off the gullible with their "authentic" fake sweats and sundances and vision quests. people die every year because they listen to those who are not qualified nor have the right to perform these acts. it happened again in sedona arizona recently. and every time it happens, the government gets that much closer to REGULATING our ceremonies! not because WE need regulating but because YOU do.
you know we used to share things openly, but we soon discovered every single thing we shared, we lost. it was taken from us. now you want to take our spirituality and make it your own to sell and abuse? no. the time of taking from us is nearly at an end. we won't stand for it any longer.
and to the one above who sarcastically stated that the lakota think they own the rights to sweat lodges...they DO. them and the few other nations who have had them as one of their sacred ceremonies for centuries. i know its hard for you to understand no when you hear it because so many are used to simply taking whateve they want from us simply because they want it. well get used to hearing no from now on. we will not give away our spirituality too.
if those who have no right to our ceremonies continue to abuse them, you have only yourselves to blame when something goes terribly wrong. don't mess with things you don't understand and were never meant for you to begin with.
and to answer your question no...i have never been in a sweat lodge. i'm a traditional but i have enough respect for another nation's ways to not use something that is not mine. we have our ceremonies and that is enough. its what we were given and the ceremonies of another are not mine to take.
ETA: in regards to your message to me via email.
From: Acheus
Subject: this guy WAS authentic...
Message: he had been doing this for several years, he had spent large portions of his life living with lakotas. try and get some facts before running your mouth.
i don't care what he told you about living with lakota. native people do NOT train non natives to be "shamans" or anything else. either your friend was lying to you or he too is a victim of fraud. do you realize how many frauds use the same old story of having been taugh by natives? its a lie. people who are not raised in the culture and live in the community are NOT taught such things. period.
do NOT try to tell me i don't know my own culture but you do. its arrogant and bigoted.
Does the Shasta Daisy cultivar 'Crazy Daisy' come true from seed?
No cultivar will come true from seed
A cultivar is a selection from a plant that is vegetatively propagated, or cloned, so that every specimen is genetically identical, and predictable in color, size and habit.
Seed set from any plant has genetic diversity by nature of the fertilization process. The plants grown from those seeds will have genetic variation from the parent plants. It may not be noticeable in the first generation but anything that is seed grown will not be genetically identical to a parent plant.
It will still be a shasta daisy, but not "Crazy Daisy' . Try planting the seed and see what you get, it will be fun and you will learn.
Los Angeles Schools Run Nation’s Second Largest District
In terms of numbers, Los Angeles Schools make up the second largest public school district in the country. Only New York City Schools top them. The issues of running any urban system are complex, but in massive districts the numbers make efforts even more difficult.
Los Angeles Schools Struggle with Graduation Rates
Simply getting students to graduate is a challenge for the Los Angeles Schools. A 2006 USA Today study reported that Los Angeles Schools were among several large urban districts with less than 50% of its students gradating from high school on time. That report put the number of graduates in Los Angeles Schools at 44.2%. This is well under the California state graduation rate of 71%.
Another report released from Princeton University in 2005 estimated the lost income of these dropouts at over $36 billion. These numbers are not surprising to educators in the Los Angeles Schools. Numerous studies over the years have confirmed what Los Angeles Schools teachers know. High School drop-outs are far more likely to become teen parents, commit crimes, and use government funded social and medical services. Graduates have higher incomes, raise better-educated children, and experience other social benefits.
Los Angeles Schools Receive Funds
As the result of a 2005 lawsuit filed by State Schools Chief Jack O’Connell and the California Teachers Association, some of the poorest rated Los Angeles Schools were awarded extra funding in May of 2007. The lawsuit was filed in 2006 against California Governor Schwarzenegger and the California Department of Finance. It alleged that they had failed to appropriately fund Proposition 98 during the 2004 to 2006 school years.
O’Connell is using the lawsuit’s awards to provide $2.7 billion to some of California and Los Angeles Schools’ highest risk schools. The funds are part of a program called the Quality Education Investment Act. The funds will provide chosen Los Angeles Schools with additional per pupil funds of $500 for k-3rd grade, $900 for 4th through 8th, and $1,000 for 9th through 12th . Los Angeles Schools intend to use the money for hiring more teachers, addressing class size concerns, professional development, and hiring in-school counselors.
Los Angeles Schools are in need in many areas. The national achievement gap is huge here because of a large population of English Language Learners, and a low socio-economic population. One concern of the Princeton study mentioned above is that it pointed out huge discrepancies in graduation rates between white and non-white students. African-American students and Hispanic students have the lowest graduation rates; and Los Angeles Schools are largely made up of these student minorities. Over 100 Los Angeles Schools will receive the additional funds over the next seven years.
