I miss my Iris from my former house?
I sold my house in the winter and left alot of meaningful flowers mainly Iris and Peonies and many were heirlooms from my family and some I recieved as gifts. Would be inappropriate to stop by and ask if I could take some of the rhizomes to my new house? What would you do if someone asked you? Also in others peoples yards - have you ever asked if you could swap with them?
Mainly heartbroken over the iris from my friends - Persian Berry, Immorality, Babbling Brook, Gay Parasol, Superstition, Chasing Rainbows. Then my Great Grandmothers Dark Red Peony and another one called Bowl of Beauty. I am shopping for more but feel bad for those I left behind.
I moved alot out before listing the house before frost but forgot some important ones. I am not looking to leave holes. Rhizomes get divided anyway and don't really leave holes behind.
I couldn't take them with us when we moved in January 2004 because of freezing temperatures, so I went back in May when I could get some of each variety of iris (several you have mentioned). We had taken good care of them, so they were thriving, and the owner was glad to share, and I weeded their flower beds in return.

about how long before an iris grows 'more' rhizome?
I have a bunch of different ones that I bought... I want to share (eventually) .. how long before they develop rhizomes? and do they do it one at a time?
Every 2-3 years they are ready to be thin out due to over crowding. Then at the time is best to share. When you have move leaf stalks than bloom, is a good indication there ready Best of luck to you.
