Harvesting sunflower seeds at the moby homestead
Growing sunflowers, from seed to eating the seeds: how long for most varieties?
I've looked at a lot of web sites and they all indicate how long it takes for the flower to appear after they are planted. They all say to harvest the heads for seeds when they reach a certain stage of ripeness or at a certain time of the season.
But they all seem to leave out the time between when the flower appears and when it is ready to harvest!
So, for some of the most popular varieties, how many days from planting to harvest? Thanks!
The reason they do not state the time is that is varies according to your climate. Here in Florida mine took about 6 weeks from sowing to blooming, it will take a bit longer for the seeds to ripen. In UK it will take all summer.
