Flower Garden Plants What is a cat friendly plant/flower I can plant in my garden?
I know that certain plants, flowers, and ferns are poisonous to cats. I am wanting to do some gardening this spring but part of the garden is in my back yard where my two cats occasionally play. I want to make sure that I am not planting anything that could be harmful to them if they eat it...they chew on the grass sometimes and puke that up once they come inside which is disgusting but I can deal with that.
Please if you are knowledgeable in this area help! Thanks.

Flower Garden Plants Can someone help me plant a flower garden?
I live in Northern NJ and I am trying to plant some flowers. I don't even know where to start or when to plant certain flowers. I am looking for deer resistant plants, since there are a real pest here. I was thinking about doing daffodils, Irises, pansies (from seed), geraniums, and I had success with ageratums. Any suggestions on other flowers, and when and how would I plant the above listed flowers.
They wont touch daffodils but you can't plant those until the fall so they come up next spring. I had pansies in my garden but the deer ate those. They tend to avoid Purple coneflowers and Black Eyed susans, foxglove, yarrow and so many more.
Do a google search on deer resistant plants to get many more ideas. Local nurseries have most perennials for sale now for planting now.

Flower & Plant Garden Care : How to Keep Houseplants Alive While You're Gone
Is well water good for watering garden plants,flowers..etc?
can we use the water taken from the well to water the home garden..
One answer is that well water is usually always better than municipal water because city water has so much chlorine injected in it. One question is what is in your well water? All well water is different. There's probably a 95% chance your well water will be perfectly fine for your garden, but if your well water is high in Nitrates or Iron Bacteria then it is horrible for your plants. You can have your water tested for free here:
Flower Garden Plants what is the best kind of flower and plants can be exist in small garden?
The garden is full sun and its too hot here. the soil is sand but i will use industrial soil. There is no rain most of the year.My growing season is about more than 4 months a year. And i want the flowers to come back every year (perennials) it will be better.
You've got plenty of options with the full sun, but will need to amend soil with compast and follow a good watering schedule. Here's an interesting article that tells how to create a drought tolerant garden -- has plant ideas also. I'd avoid plants like hydrangea and astilbe that like lots of water. Good luck!

Tips on Garden Planters, Pots, & Flower Boxes : Proper Drainage for Garden Plants
Tips for Flower Gardening
Flower gardening can allow you to express your creativity, to get closer to nature, and to further enjoy being human. Here we present a few special flower gardening tips to help you be a more effective and creative flower gardener.
Plant the best flowers for your space. It's important that you work with nature and not against it. Don't overwhelm a small space with a large number of plant species. Select just a few so your flower garden does not look cluttered. You should plant sun loving flowers in a sunny location, shade loving flowers in a shady location. By selecting plants that are well-suited to your growing zone, as well as the area of your flower garden, you'll have to do a lot less work and make your flower gardening much more rewarding. Space the plants to allow for their mature size.
Prepare for the soil. Producing gorgeous flowers requires good soil, so make sure your soil is healthy and rich. Good soil means good roots. Your flowering plants need healthy roots to support and nourish the stems, foliage and flowers. Loosen the soil down about six inches for annuals, ten to twelve inches for perennials. Mix in organic matter such as compost. Check the pH to see if you need to add lime or sulfur to adjust the pH.
Flower gardening requires the right tools. This means, not only, your trowels, shovels and hoes, but also fertilizer, soil amendments and watering aids. Having the right tools will make your flower gardening easier and more enjoyable.
It's important to prune flowers for continued growth. This pruning includes dead-heading and cutting flowers back for inside arrangements. To deadhead a plant, you need to simply snip the dead or dying bloom off the mother plant. By removing the flower head, you keep the plant from focusing its attention on the creation of seeds, which will form in the dead flower head.
Use best fertilizer for flowers. You can use a general purpose granular fertilizer or a slow release granular fertilizer with an analysis of 10-10-10 or similar. Read and follow the label directions for how much to use. Never use more than the amount on the label. Over-fertilized plants are more prone to pests and diseases; if in doubt, use less.
Water Flowers Correctly. Watering flowers according to their specific needs is essential to successful flower gardening. Most flowers prefer soil that is evenly moist yet well drained. When you do water, apply it slowly and thoroughly. To be effective, the water must soak down to the deepest roots. It's best to water early in the day to prevent evaporation and leaf-burn.
Follow the above tips to grow a healthy, beautiful flower garden overflowing with buds and blooms of all kinds all season long.

3 Important Tips for Your Herb Garden Plants
Like other types of plants, herb garden plants come in different forms. There are different varieties of herbs. If you are planning to have one type of herb garden plant, you should know how to care for it and how to use it properly. To better understand different types of herb garden plants and their uses, you should continue reading this article.
Annuals like basil, cilantro, and summer savory will not survive a frost. They need to be planted from a seed or a small plant every year. Perennials like sage and winter savory can survive colder temperatures and will return year after year. Biennial herbs are herb garden plants that form leaves in their first growing season and flowers and seed in the second season, then die. Biennial herb garden plants like parsley, angelica, or caraway should be sown in late spring directly into the garden. Prepare the soil first by working it to a fine texture and wet it slightly. Plant the seeds in shallow rows then firm the soil on top of them. Fine seeds can be planted in a mixture of sand which will allow them to spread more evenly. You can also cover the bed with wet burlap or paper in order to keep the soil moist during germination.
Herb garden plants are also grouped into the categories for which they are used. Culinary herbs are probably the most useful to herb gardeners. They have a huge range of different uses in cooking. Because of their strong flavors, herbs like chives, thyme, basil, sage, savory, and marjoram are generally used in small quantities to add flavor to different types of food. Parsley are extremely popular herb garden plants that are used mostly as a garnish. Aromatic herbs have pleasant smelling flowers or foliage. Oils from aromatic herbs like loyage, mint, and rosemary can be used to make different types of perfumes, toilet water, or other various scents. Parts of aromatic herb garden plants used intact can also be used in the home to scent linens or clothing. They can also be dried and made into potpourri which will enable them to be able to retain their aroma for a long period of time. Lavender and lemon verbenas are great herb garden plants to use for potpourri. Some herbs are also used for medicinal purposes. For centuries herbs have been thought to have the ability to cure the body. Present medical knowledge recognizes that some herb garden plants are beneficial to ones health, others are overrated. Herbs used for medicinal purposes should be used carefully. Some herb garden plants are harmless but others can be dangerous if eaten.
Herb garden plants are not only used for their flavor, scent, or ability to heal. Some of them are used to decorate houses because of their brightly colored flowers and foliage. Valerian which has light colored flowers and crimson blossoms are favorite decors. Borage and chicory are also used because they have beautiful blue flowers.
Herb garden plants are categorized with their uses but still some of them can be used in different purposes. Mint can be used either for cooking, tea, and pest control. Whatever purpose you have in herb plants, at least you have the right knowledge of their proper uses.

Garden Plants And Flowers can you grow nice plants and flowers without chemicals?
sorry, know nothing about gardening.
I would like to grow some flowers and plants in my garden, but do not want to use any chemicals, as am also thinking about using my garden to grow some organic veg, that's why chemicals are a no.
what nice plants (small and neat) flowers/plants would you recommend besides my veg.
thanks.
Growing plants & vegetables without synthethic, artificial man-made chemicals is possible...
if you nuture habitats for beneficial organisms that help deter problem pests, and enrich your soil to create a living ecosystem of beneficial bacteria and helpful fungi.
If you use compost with composted manure,or fish emulsion for fertilizer ...
you don't need artificial fertilizers. Ordinary items like milk can be used as a fungicide; vinegar or boiling water can be used to kill weeds, & bugs aren't a big problem when nature is in balance.
You can grow these beneficial flowers next to your vegetables (as companion plants) to deter pests & improve their growth:
Nasturtium are good planted with Tomatoes, radish, cabbage, cucumbers; planted under fruit trees; deters aphids & pests of curcurbits
Geraniums repel cabbage worms and Japanese beetles, plant around grapes, roses, corn, and cabbage.
Marigolds helps most plants, especially tomatoes and peppers, cucumbers, gourds, squash, broccoli, kale, cabbage
Tansy is good for cucumbers, squash, raspberries & relatives, roses, corn. Repels flying insects, Japanese beetles, striped cucumber beetles, squash bugs and ants
Here's a guide to companion plants that go together:

None have been observed to be resistant enough to leave unprotected. Fortunately, trees can be caged until they grow taller than the deer when small. The best approach is to make a cage around each tree until it grows beyond the deer's reach.
