Blue flax is among my favorite flowers, what is your favorite flower?
Blue Flax
The sun is sweet to her but blisters
and so she hides through heat of day,
curled in quiet places with her sisters
where sweetly sleeping she gently sways.
She sits alongside the dusty road,
on cooler evenings when sun is set,
with her back bent and head bowed low
in a green dress and her bluest bonnet,
her golden eyes peaking out smiling.
Oh! She has such a way of beguiling!

Blue Blooms can I trim old wood on my hydrangeas now before it blooms?
I have both blue and white hydrangeas and also PeeGee.....I'm not clear when reading up on these plants on when it is a good time to prune the dead wood....I know that I can deadhead anytime, but prunning is questionable....
Hydrangeas are a funny shrub. I can't seem to understand them either, untill this website..good luck.
1) All dead stems should be removed from hydrangeas every year.
(2) After the plants are at least 5 years old, about 1/3 of the older (living) stems can be removed down to the ground each summer. This will revitalize the plant.
(3) In addition, if it becomes necessary to prune a plant to reduce its size, it may be cut back in June or July without harming the next year's bloom. But it will return almost immediately to it's former size. This is one reason why it's best to plant a hydrangea where it does not have to be pruned.

I have 2 vividly blue hydrangeas, how can i change one to pink without shockin?
They are a good 50 or 60 feet apart, and are both blooming bright blue. I would like one to be the pretty pink color i have seen, but don't know whether to increase or decrease the pH of the soil or how to go about so that the plant doesn't die of shock.
