I suggest that you take an aptitude test. An aptitude test assesses your skills and your interests and matches you to the careers that are right for you.
Check with the high school adviser for one or your college/university (they have some awesome tests). Or, failing those, go to the workforce development agency (unemployment office) One really good one is called JobFit. Beware of the internet scams.
Once you take the test it will help identify careers that take little or no education clear up to a doctorate. Hope this helps.
Fresh Seed I want to convert my parakeets to mainly pellets (and fresh foods) but how?
Okay so right now they are young and I offer a couple types of seed, some pellets, millet, and fresh foods. They eat mostly seed, no fresh foods, and a tiny portion of pellets. What is the best way to convert them to mainly pellets and fresh foods, and occasional seeds?
i orignally was going to use kaytee diet pellets but the place that bred the keets said they cause cancer and they gave me a seed variety, and these little colored pellets. so are these pellets okay? how would i know if they are non brand?
how bad are seeds?
There are many methods to conversion, and some work better than others. The most commonly used one is mixing pellets gradually into the dish with the seeds. This has worked for some, but the problem is that the bird can still completely avoid the pellets and continue to eat the seed.
Another method is to serve pellets in a different form. For example, soaking it in water and creating a mash out of it. (Duddles' note: when pellets or mash are mixed with water, they cannot be left all day, since they start to spoil quickly. Maximum: 1 hour.) Many birds might try this, but here's the catch: not all pellets are in a mashed form. Harrison's brand, however, does have a mashed form made primarily for finches that is also good for converting picky birds if you find this is the only way to get your bird to try pellets.
Another very common method is to put a seed dish in the cage in the morning (with a separate dish for pellets), then take the seed dish out in the afternoon leaving just the pellet dish, then put the seed dish back in the cage for the evening and night. Since birds primarily eat in the morning and night, they are able to eat their normal diet, but if they want an afternoon snack their only choice is to eat pellets. This is my favorite method and has worked for many.
During the conversion period, keep a very close eye on your bird's weight. (Duddles' note: It is best to use a gram scale and a good one at that. An old, out of calibre kitchen scale may not be good enough to detect a couple of grams, which is actually a huge amount of weight, for example, to a budgie that only weighs 25-35 grams to begin with.) Weigh your bird before you begin conversion and continue to weigh your bird twice or more a week during the conversion period (you may want to weigh him every day if you feel its necessary). If you bird appears to be losing weight, make sure you aren't limiting his normal seed intake. This is sometimes a problem if you are using the gradual mix-in method.
Even after your bird appears to be converted, continue to watch his weight for at least a month after the apparent conversion. In most birds, the color of his dropping may change (typically from green to a brown) once he has been converted to a pelleted diet.
Conversion will without a doubt be the most difficult part of feeding your bird pellets, but fitting pellets into your bird's diet properly and healthily is just as important. Just as an all-seed diet isn't good for your bird, neither is an all-pellet diet. Seeds are a natural part of your bird's diet in the wild, and should continue to be a small part of your bird's domesticated diet as well.
With your pellets there should be a chart saying how much pellets you should feed your bird daily. For the Harrison's brand, this can be found on their website. For each breed of bird, there are directions as to how much pellets to give them.
According the chart at Harrison's website for the Adult Lifetime Fine pellets (http://harrisonsbirdfoods.com/al.cfm), one should feed a budgie 1-2 tsp of pellets, and then feed him approximately 1 tsp of fruits or vegetables. It also says on the list that such feeding of fruits and vegetables isn't required, but it is certainly best for your bird. Without fresh foods in his diet, a bird lacks a vital part of his varied diet.
Then, in addition to this amount of pellets and fruits, a bird would require a small amount of seed, keeping with his natural diet. Allowing him a small amount of seed early in the day will keep him in tune with his natural system.
Fruit Trees 101 : How to Grow Apricot Trees From Seeds
When can fresh vegetable seeds be planted?
In the last week I have collected seeds from some fresh peppers and cantaloupe that I would like to plant indoors for transplanting when the weather allows. I assume they have to dry out some before I plant them. How long do I have to keep these seeds before I can actually plant them in pots? Any idea how soon I should plant them so they would be ready for transplant in Early May?
Seeds should be completely dry before planting. I would then place them in the freezer for a few weeks. Check out the time to maturity for each of the seeds in your area. If it says 85 days to maturity you want to remember that this is a full fruit bearing plant and transplanting at that stage of the game is not very successful. Most vegetable plants and melons do well if they aren't taller than 12" high/wide when transplanting them out of doors. So if it says 85 days to full maturity, then starting them indoors you would seed them about 44 days before your frost free date by then you will have a healthy plant to plant outdoors that will transplant well. Hope this helps

wild or pet bird yellow ?
so we found a little yellow bird outside, hurt (probably dehydrated or tired) and we did what most decent people would do, we fixed him up. Put him in a little homemade cage and gave him seeds and water. Hes doing very well at the moment.
He is a bright pretty yellow with gray wings and a black cap like a kippah.black eyes black beak.
can u tell me what type of bird it is? we want to know wether it is a pet bird that escaped (we think so) so we can keep it or a wild bird so we can let it go.
thanks alot.
finally after doing some research i have found out it is a wilson's warbler.
can i keep it?
I believe you that its a Wilson's Warbler. My friend Leni used to say they were the Jewish Warbler because of the kippah.
Unfortunately you can not keep it. Its a violation of federal law. Also warblers are insectivores. It would be very difficult to keep it as a pet even if it were legal. You sound like a very kind person. Thank you for caring for this little guy.
White Medium i have ugly white tiles, white appliances, medium oak cabinets, how can I warm my kitchen?
I want to paint the walls to make my kitchen warm. I am not sure what I can do with the ceramic tile floors. I am hoping I can paint the walls and add rugs. I want to make sure the wall color is a warm color. The rest of my house is painted in earth tones.
Yup, painting your walls will warm your kitchen. I think something like orange color (not bright orange) is great and can go with your brown cabinets. Try to also have ceiling lights with warm yellow lights.

Is a medium blue on the walls and a white on the borders okay for a small bedroom?
I know dark colors on the walls can make a small bedroom appear even smaller, but I really like a darker ocean blue and a white together. It's a sunny room so I figure that plus the light colored accents and furniture will open it up. Thoughts?
Oh yes that would be a calm feeling room if you did that because you will have enough white on the borders to even out the dominant color.
