Plants Red Flowers what plants are poison to Red Eared Sliders?
i might make a garden with a pond and RES, what plants/flowers are poison to them?
I don't want to make it sound like red eared sliders are impossible pets, because they can be wonderful additions to a home (or pond!). There are a few things you should realize about red eared sliders before you decide to get one, though.
Don't use soil or gravel or sand as this can cause the turtles proplems if they injest it. The plant will be fine with roots floating in the water as long as the turtle doesn't get hungry for them.

""""Aquatic Plants
Turtles are more destructive to plants than are fish. Turtles use plants as food, to hide in, and to swim through. They bang into them with considerably more impact that your usual aquarium fish. Water plants help increase the oxygen content of the water as well as lower the level of nitrates. The following aquatic plants are considered hardy for use in aquatic and semi-aquatic turtle enclosures.

Arrowhead (Sagittaria sublata)
Canadian Pondweed (Elodea canadensis)

Plants Red Flowers Why is my guzmania plant not having red flowers?
Initially when I bought it, it's flower was red. But now it is losing it's colour. What is the reason behind it? I tried to keep it in moderate room temperature. I gave it remains of tomatoes to its soil as recommended from the guidance given by a website. After all this, it's colour is not improving. Instead it is deteriorating.
Please help me in this regard.
Cheers!!!
Hi friend,
guzmania is an indoor plant, but it needs to get a generous amount of light (doesn't HAVE to be sunlight - can be too harsh).
What happens is that the chloroplasts (responsible for the green colour) should degenerate to form chromoplasts (responsible for the red colour) - if your guzmania does not get enough light, chloroplasts will not deteriorate and no red colour will be visible.
Instead, the plant will have as many green leaves as possible to absorb enough light for energy needed to survive.
You should understand that the crown leaves of the PLANT are red (tipped with green), not necessarily the flower of the plant. The guzmania wil flower once in a season, then the flower will deteriorate. So you must be able to see the red colour throughout the year.
What is the difference between red and pink camellia plants?
My mom really wants a camellia plant with red flowers, but everywhere she went they always have pink. Why? Are they different in their growth or was it just chance that no one had them?
They are different cultivars (varieties). They all belong to Camellia japonica but plant breeders have produced different varieties. Noone had the red ones when you looked.

What are some tropical, perennial plants, bushes or trees w/ RED OR YELLOW FLOWERS for Zone 9?
Zone 9 is desert like conditions, we get heat in the 100 degrees and cold in the low 40's. I want a beautiful tropical garden, please help!
Having grown up and recently transplanted from a tropical Island to Florida, I can understand your need for a tropical garden. Here are some of the flowers I have to remind me of my beautiful island home.
1. Red Hibiscus and Yellow Hibiscus, either single or double bloom.
2. Yellow or red centered plumeria.
3. bottle brush plant (red)
4. geraniums either red or yellow
5. I would suggest planting a bird of paradise also with a combination of beautiful colors.
6. Bouganvilla would also look nice in your tropical garden
and it comes in a variety of pinks, reds, and yellows.
